For months, extending into years, the freedom of movement and social lives of Chinese workers have been blocked by the Chinese regime and capitalist enterprises using the excuse of Covid restrictions.
In the immense Foxconn factory complex in Zhengzhou, 200,000 workers build the chips that are used in making components for 85% of Apple’s current iPhone 14. The workers have faced appalling treatment, effective imprisonment in workplace dormitories and lack of health care.
Three weeks ago tens of thousands of them started to fight back. Many broke out of the factory complex. Others fought security guards enforcing the appalling working conditions. Read more and sign this petition in their support.
Elsewhere in China, 10 workers died after being prevented leaving their home during a catastrophic fire at Urumqi, in the province of Xinjiang.
Since the Foxconn revolt and following the Urumqi tragedy hundreds of thousands of workers and students have taken to the streets across China.
We need to mobilise in solidarity – not only to demand that the Apple Corporation ends their complicity with the anti-worker policies of the Chinese regime but also to support all Chinese workers and students currently fighting against the dictatorial and authoritarian regime.
Our first lobby will be at London’s Regent Street store on December 10 at 1pm. There will also be protests at the Chinese Embassy. Register here to tell us you will join us, of if you are able to organise your own action or if you just want to be kept informed.
Join us on Dec 10 outside Apple Stores.
