Protests FAQ’s

Who regulates hate speech and validates ideas on the Protests.org.uk?

We use the information provided within the protest submission form to determine if the event adheres to our community guidelines and protesting laws that apply within the planned location. This is done manually however we will introduce some automation in the future. What’s posted in the platform won’t be determined by our personal bias but rather our principles and local laws. We may personally not agree with every single protest posted so it’s important we determine what freedom of speech means to us. Being seen as completely unbiased to everyone is impossible but setting clear guidelines and enforcing them is what we believe is best.

Verifying / approving events before they are posted live ensures hate speech has no place on the Protests.org.uk. This approval process will also reduce the chances of unlawful protests being posted or promoted.

What if local authorities reject certain protests?

Only protests considered legal within the planned location will be accepted onto the platform. We rely on our community guidelines, local protest laws, and international human rights laws (where relevant) to determine which protests may be posted.

How may Protests.org.uk prevent protests becoming unlawful?

Protests.org.uk is unable to prevent protests from becoming unlawful. We focus on educating people on how lawful protests can be conducted and show how to best achieve change. As per our terms of service and messaging, we may collaborate with local police services if protests are held illegally. We are not liable for any damages or responsible for events in any way.

Can you post a protest on the platform for free?

Organisers are and will always be able to plan protests on our platform for free.

Are counter protests a risk to events planned on the platform?

Counter protests cannot be prevented but the safety of events can be monitored to assure the event is still suitable for people to attend. We intend to develop technology which will support this in the future.

Does Protests Global receive funding from the government?

No. Protests is an independent Community Interest Organisation, with no political affiliation and we do not accept funding from the Government.

Why use Protests.org.uk?

We are dedicated to listing upcoming protests, we are the only to find out if protests are legal, we make your rights easy to understand, and our future plans are to continue empowering organisers with even better protest focused technology. Let’s make a difference.
